We’re delighted to announce that Kate’s Kitchen has once again been awarded Gold Food for Life Served Here certification by the Soil Association.
This prestigious independent certification recognises caterers who are committed to serving food that is better for climate, nature and health. Achieving Gold status demonstrates our ongoing dedication to sourcing high-quality, sustainable ingredients and creating fresh, nutritious menus that make a positive impact.

What is Food for Life Served Here?
Food for Life Served Here is a nationally recognised certification scheme run by the Soil Association, the UK’s leading sustainable food and farming charity. The certification verifies the food that is purchased, prepared and served by caterers, providing assurance that meals meet rigorous standards for sustainability, provenance, animal welfare and nutrition.
Certified meals are freshly prepared by trained chefs using ingredients that are free from artificial transfats, GM ingredients and unnecessary additives. Meat can be traced back to the farm and meets/ exceeds UK animal welfare standards, eggs are free-range, fish is sustainably sourced and menus make the most of seasonal produce.
What Does Gold Certification Mean?
Food for Life Served Here has three certification levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Gold is the highest level and recognises caterers that go above and beyond in three key areas:
- Ethical and environmentally friendly food
- Championing local and UK producers
- Making healthy eating easy
To achieve Gold certification, at least 15% of ingredients must be organic, alongside a significant commitment to sourcing local and UK produce. Additional measures are also required to support healthier menu choices and reduce environmental impact.

Why It Matters
At Kate’s Kitchen, sustainability has always been at the heart of what we do. Achieving Gold certification reflects the choices we make every day—from working with trusted local suppliers and prioritising seasonal ingredients to cooking from scratch and reducing reliance on ultra-processed foods.
Organic farming plays an important role in protecting wildlife, improving soil health, safeguarding water quality and supporting higher animal welfare standards. By incorporating organic ingredients into our menus, we’re helping to support farming systems that work in harmony with nature.
A Commitment We Continue to Build On
Retaining Gold Food for Life Served Here certification is something we’re incredibly proud of, but it’s not a finish line. It is a recognition of our ongoing commitment to serving food that is good for people and the planet.
We’d like to thank our fantastic suppliers, chefs and team members who make this possible every day. Their passion for sustainable food and exceptional hospitality is what helps us maintain these high standards year after year.
As we continue to grow, we’ll keep championing local producers, sourcing responsibly and creating delicious food that makes a positive difference.
Thank you for supporting sustainable catering.
