At Kate’s Kitchen, fresh ingredients are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’ve recently started building something exciting right outside our kitchen doors — our very own herb garden.
Whenever we’ve had a moment between events (and in the rare gaps between Bristol’s rain and frost), the team has been slowly clearing the space and getting it ready for planting.
Our Head Chef Chris has been the driving force behind the project. He even single-handedly installed the posts and fencing to create the space that will soon be filled with herbs and vegetables ready for the kitchen.
Next on the list is building some pallet planters, which will allow us to grow a range of fresh herbs right outside our door. It’s a small project that we’re really excited about, as it brings us even closer to the ingredients we use every day.
Having herbs growing on site means we’ll be able to pick them fresh for our dishes — whether that’s garnishing plates for weddings, adding flavour to salads, or finishing off one of our seasonal menus.
And it won’t just be herbs…
Radishes are already on the wish list too.
It’s been a lovely team project so far, and we’re looking forward to seeing the space grow over the coming months. We’ll be sharing updates as the garden develops — and hopefully showing off a few dishes featuring our home-grown ingredients.
