At Kate’s Kitchen Catering, we’ve always believed that great food shouldn’t just taste good — it should do good, too. That’s why we’re so proud of our partnership with Heart of BS13, a local social enterprise that’s turning Bristol’s food waste into flourishing soil and stunning, sustainable flowers.

Over the past year, our collaboration with Heart of BS13’s Closed Loop Composting programme has had an incredible impact. By sending our food waste to their composting site at Hartcliffe City Farm, we’ve helped save an estimated 93 tonnes of carbon dioxide — that’s the equivalent of:

🌍 151 barrels of oil
⛴️ 12,936 ferry trips to France
🏡 Powering a home for 29 years

It’s amazing to think that our kitchen waste & leftovers from our catering events are now helping to grow vibrant, chemical-free flowers right here in South Bristol.

A Blooming Partnership

Heart of BS13’s Flower Farm is more than just a place where flowers grow — it’s a community hub rooted in care for both people and the planet. Their team uses sustainable growing methods to improve soil health, enhance biodiversity and create opportunities for education, training and wellbeing in one of Bristol’s most deprived areas.

Every stem grown at Heart of BS13 is seasonal, low-carbon and pesticide-free. From weddings to workshops, their flowers are lovingly grown and arranged with the environment in mind. We can’t think of a better example of how local businesses can work together to create a truly circular, sustainable economy.

Wedding Flowers with Heart

If you’re planning a wedding or special event, we can’t recommend Heart of BS13’s floristry team enough. Led by their talented florist Clem, with over 15 years of experience, they create bespoke arrangements using flowers grown right here in Bristol. Each bouquet supports local jobs, community training, and soil regeneration

Growing Change, Together

We’re incredibly proud to support a local initiative that’s helping to tackle climate change, reduce waste, and strengthen our community. A huge thank you to everyone at Heart of BS13 for the incredible work you do — and to our clients, whose events help make this positive impact possible.
